Childbirth injures women in Ethiopia

In much of the developing world, childbirth is a risky undertaking. More than 100,000 women every year suffer injuries that leave them incontinent and alone.

These photographs are selections from a photo story about women in Ethiopia who suffer from the childbirth injury, obstetric fistula. A special hospital in the capital city of Addis Ababa provides repair surgery for the women, free of charge.
